Camp Am Yisrael Update May 6, 2018
Dear Am Yisrael Parents, Grandparents and Friends of Am Yisrael,
Camp Am Yisrael has been assigned to bring sugar free jelly or jam for the end of the year Am Yisrael SJS Food Drive to support the clients of the Ark. Please note that you are welcome to bring any item, we have just found that assigning specific items helps with the variety of foods that we receive for these food drives. Cantor Simon, Mr. Marc the Madrichot (teenage assistants) and I greatly enjoyed singing songs and prayers and making Art at Camp Am Yisrael this past Sun, May 6. We also enjoyed a great story, learning by play and hanging out together as we do every Sunday.
As I noted in my weekly Limmud/Education update, there is an amazing new resource for Jewish music streaming online, which also has free apps. PJ Library Radio: http://pjlibraryradio.com. We hope that those with young children will enjoy it and spread the word!
We look forward to seeing you this coming Sun, May 13. Please note that we will have our regular programming for the remaining Sundays of the school year and on the final Sunday, immediately after class, those who wish to go into the Sanctuary to see kids reading from the brand new Torah scroll are welcome. There is also a complementary catered Shavuot kiddush lunch. Please be sure to RSVP if you would like to join us: http://evite.me/6NP7Pm3eVY Written Fri, May 11, 2018
Upcoming Sessions for the rest of the academic year are as follows: May 13, May 20.

Fourth Camp Am Yisrael Update Nov & Dec 2017
Dear Am Yisrael Parents, Grandparents and Friends of Am Yisrael,
I’m thrilled to report that as we end our third month of our Camp Am Yisrael weekly gatherings that our class now has 17 students. When you include the adults that accompany our newborns through toddlers, Room 2 is quite full from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. We will be taking off this Sun, Nov 26 for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday! Camp Am Yisrael will be back in session on Sun, Dec 3. We are grateful to the family members who have taken books off their personal bookshelves and read them to our class.
Even though we have a lot of kids in Camp Am Yisrael, we still have room for more kids in Room 2. The classrooms are quite big and we have plenty of Madrichim (teenage classroom assistants) to play with the little children, along with numerous toys to play with and books to read. We also have several puppets for Tefillah (prayer) time together. Please tell your friends or family to get in touch with me if they want to check out the class.
Upcoming Sessions for the rest of the academic year are as follows: Dec 3, Dec 10, Dec 17, Jan 14, Jan 21, Jan 28, Feb 4, Feb 11, Feb 25, Mar 4, Mar 11, Mar 18, Apr 8, Apr 15, Apr 22, Apr 29, May 6, May 13, May 20.
Please know that it is not necessary be a member of the synagogue to come to Camp Am Yisrael, or to attend each session to be a part of our growing community that gives the children and their caregivers an opportunity to socialize and play in a joyous Jewish setting.

Second Camp Am Yisrael Update Sep 2017
Dear Am Yisrael Parents, Grandparents and Friends of Am Yisrael,
I’m very excited to report that we have gotten into an excellent routine in Camp Am Yisrael this school year and have fifteen children registered thus far. Our Madrichim are doing a phenomenal job working with this group of children with their parents, grandparents and/or other caregivers. Thus far we have had singing with Cantor Simon, Mr. Marc and myself, art projects with Ms. Preis and storytime with parents who have volunteered to read them. Each week a different family brings in snack and families signed up for weeks that work for them. Rabbi Newman Kamin will be hosting Camp Am Yisrael at her sukkah on Sunday, October 8 in lieu of regular class. All details were emailed to Camp Am Yisrael families. Please spread the word about this class which is free of charge and synagogue membership is not required.

Written for this year’s program booklet
Camp Am Yisrael
Dear Am Yisrael Parents, Grandparents and Friends of Am Yisrael,

children (0-3) to introduce them to the concepts of Shabbat and the holidays. Am Yisrael in
Northfield is continuing its Camp Am Yisrael initiative this school year. The program is free of
charge and synagogue membership is not required. The class will begin on Sunday, September
10 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will meet each Sunday while school is in session. This is
not a structured class; the format will be learn-by- play. A sample of a typical Sunday is listed
below.
• 9:30 a.m.-9:40 a.m. Families arrive kids can play freely
• 9:40 a.m.-9:50 a.m. Story about Shabbat
• 9:50 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Shabbat dinner enactment using Shabbat playset for candles, grape juice and motzi blessings
• 10:00 a.m.-10:10 a.m. Songs with the Cantor
• 10:10 a.m.-10:20 a.m. Free play and snack
• 10:20 a.m.-10:30 am. Tefillah (song based)
The children will learn about Shabbat/Havdalah, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Simchat
Torah, Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Passover and Yom Ha’atzmaut. Each topic will be covered for two
weeks. A special art project will be included for each topic. Just like last year special
Grandparents Days will be included in the schedule. However, we encourage grandparents and
other special guests to attend the program at any time during the school year.
Registration for this program is still open. If you are interested please contact me by calling the
