Fourteenth Week: SJS 12/7 & 12/10 & SMFP 12/13

Message from Mr. Sherman
I have loved seeing the evolution of Shabbat Morning Family Programming (SMFP) over the past several years.  While having over 120 kids read/chant from the Torah scroll pre-B’nai Mitzvah since 2010, we have also shifted gears slowly but surely to create an experience that meets the needs of children of all ages, from the youngest in the congregation through B’nai Mitzvah.  What happens during the 7th Grade year for our SJS and Day School students?  The B’nai Mitzvah circuit, of course. However, not every 7th Grader has a Bar/Bat Mitzvah every week and we welcome them on the bimah as often as possible. We even have some 8th Grade SMFP pioneers joining us, who read Torah and serve as outstanding role models.  Our next SMFP is coming up on Shabbat morning, Dec. 13th, corresponding with new member Shabbat.  For a description of SMFP programming by age/grade level, please go to https://amyisrael.org/content/shabbat-morning-family-programming
All Gan through Zayin families, we look forward to seeing you at the Semi-Annual Chugim Presentation: Sun. Dec. 14th: 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Gimel Families, we look forward to seeing you at the Family Education/Brunch with the Rabbi: Sun. Dec. 7th: 9:50 a.m.-11:25 a.m.
Mazal Tov to Justin Youderian and his entire family as he will be called to the Torah tomorrow as a Bar Mitzvah. For one of Justin’s Bar Mitzvah projects he is collecting gently used sports equipment for The Shed.  The Shed donates this equipment to kids who cannot afford to pay for it.  Please click here to see a list of the most requested items.  We will have a bin in the SJS lobby to collect these items for the next several weeks to support Justin in this worthy endeavor.  Shabbat Shalom!
